Description:
Ultimate Tinymce Custom Styles is designed to give you the ability to define your own custom styles. These defined styles will appear in the styleselect dropdown list in the tinymce editor as selections for the end user. They can be applied to any highlighted text via the editor.
This Custom Styles plugin will apply the style directly to both the content in the editor as well as to the front-end when a post/page is viewed… negating the need to have two separate style sheets.
This plugin is different from my Ultimate Tinymce Predefined Styles. This plugin (Custom Styles) will allow the admin to develop separate styles for different websites. The styles are defined by the admin, and auto-inserted into the dropdown selector. With the Predefined Styles plugin, the styles are hard-coded, and are always the same.
Currently, this plugin is built for use with PHP arrays. This means, as you create your custom styles, they will resemble an array used in PHP. Don’t worry if you are unfamiliar with array’s; I have included an extremely detailed help section with the plugin. Additionally, I have a very active support forum where users can come together, share ideas, and troubleshoot issues.

Notes
I would like to make clear (up front) the method of inserting styles via the admin panel. Each entry will consist of an array, with your chosen selectors.
If the following code gives you the “Heebee Jeebee’s”, you might want to consider first familiarizing yourself with how PHP arrays look and their syntax.
Array( 'title' => 'Bold Red Text', 'inline' => 'span', 'styles' => Array( 'color' => '#ff0000', 'font-weight' => 'bold'))
Remember, I maintain a very active support forum. If you get stuck along the way, I encourage you to use the support forum to voice your issue. Eventually, it will become a repository of many examples and solutions. Here is the link to the Support Forum.
Feel free to use my Contact Form if you have any questions (prior to purchasing) with this plugin. I will answer all queries in a timely manner.

Hi Josh,
thank you for a great editor plugin! I need to play with line spacing in my page. I was wondering if custom styles will allow me to do that.
thank you,
Irit
Hello Irit,
Actually, if you are wanting to adjust the line spacing of your page, you will need to make a modification via your themes stylesheet. Your themes stylesheet is what controls the CSS on the front end of your website. If you would care to provide a link, I’ll take a look and provide the code necessary to make the change.
Hi Josh,
I’m wondering if it is possible to buy a single license to see if I like these and then upgrade later? Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere.
Hugh
Hello Hugh,
Of course you may upgrade for a discount at any point in the future. Simply contact me using any of the available methods… provide the PayPal transaction ID… and I will generate a coupon code for you to use to upgrade the license.
Please let me know if I may answer any additional questions.
Josh,
Does this plugin also contain all the styles present in the predefined styles plugin (http://www.plugins.joshlobe.com/predefined-custom-styles/)?
So basically this plugin gives you the ability to add new styles while still use built in ones from the other predefined styles plugin?
Hello John,
The plugin does not include the styles… however, it’s VERY easy to get them transferred over from the predefined styles plugin. If you decide to purchase the “Custom Styles” plugin, simply send me an email message and I’ll send you the code I used for the predefined styles. Then, you can just add to that file the new styles you would like to include in your editor.
I created the predefined styles plugin using the template from the custom styles plugin. So, they both work identically. The Predefined Styles is just something I made for those who prefer not to attempt the coding.
Hi Josh,
That’s exactly what I needed, and it worked immediately!
Thanks for your quick, friendly and excellent support. Keep up the good work.
Hi There,
Thank you for your use full plugin, I have installed your plugin to my site and I use the tables, its shows border on the admin page however it not shows the border line at the page.
Please advice for this matter.
Cheers
Trianto
Hello Trianto,
The table border is probably something that is being modified by your theme. You would need to adjust the css of your theme for border tables to get the border to display how you would like. Use my contact page to send me a message if you would like some help with this.
Hi,
Have made payment for custom Styles but have not any link to download. Can you help ?
Hi Chris, have you received your download link yet? If not, please contact me via the link in the main nav menu and I will get this to you immediately.
Hi Josh,
Great plugin as always. The new site is not deployed yet, but I think I sent you the link.
Question is…does this include the Custom Welcome Message function? Asking only because I was told to minimize the number of plugins for security’s sake. But yours’ are from a trusted source of course. Would the number of plugins matter when from a trusted source? Just wondering. Either way, yours are ones I will def keep.
Thanks much!
-Donna
Hi Donna,
Well, I don’t see any harm with having multiple plugins from a trusted author. I think what the concern is, is that many plugins aren’t necessarily “nice” plugins. Coding can be amateur, back doors can be left open, scripts can be misused, and all this only because the author was probably unaware of even doing this.
So, when you get 10 of those “untrusted” plugins running together… you really increase the odds of having a problem.
To answer your question, No. This plugin does not include the Custom Welcome Messages. However, you will have no issues running the two of them at the same time.
Hi Josh,
Thanks so much. I’ve installed both and also the Advanced Config (which I will have to advance to). We really like the Custom log in, but am having so problems getting the box background and text just right. Thanks for the security information. Much appreciated!
Thanks again,
Donna
Hello again,
I just saw that your Ultimate TinyMCE has a column shortcode option – that is nice, but I just want to clarify that that is not not what I was asking above. I did a Google Search and found the article I had seen: http://wp.smashingmagazine.com/2011/10/14/advanced-layout-templates-in-wordpress-content-editor/. I haven’t read it, just skimmed it, but the idea looks very interesting.
Be well,
Moshe
Hi there,
A few questions about this plugin. 1) Do all of the styles have to go into one drop-down menu called Styles? Could I create a few drop down menus each with their own, unique name (for instance, one could be called Boxes, another Shadows, a third Buttons, etc.).
Secondly – can in the array could I set a css such that the output will be something like class=”blue”? If so, is it still possible to have the styling show up in the editor?
Thirdly – is it possible to set up columns with this plugin? I.e., rather than use short codes for columns. I saw an article once on how one can divide the TinyMCE editor into different columns (don’t remember where I saw it). If so, I was wondering if something like this is possible with this plugin?
Thanks and be well,
Moshe
Hello Moshe,
1. I’m sure this could be achieved, but it would require a couple of hours custom coding. It’s much easier to include them in a single dropdown.
2. There is a way to add a class in the array. However, you would need to manually link the associated stylesheet to the editor. Again, this has to do with the initialization process.
3. Currently, there is no option to “visually” see the columns separated. It is only achieved via shortcode usage. However, the end results are the same.
Hot sassafras! I need to get a copy of this. **Makes note to self…**
Well, hello again Mr. Joe. Send me an email using my personal contact form, and I’ve got something for you! I tried sending it via the email you used here, but it’s blocking the .zip file extension.
